Anyone who has bought multiple coin collections has most certainly come across one of these strange but true pieces in one form or another.  The facts are indisputable and they are quite intriguing.   President Lincoln and President Kennedy just happen to both be on a coin, so needless to say this is a coin marketers dream come true.   Here are a the facts that are Strange But True:

  • There are seven letters in each name.
  • Both Presidents had legality of election contested.
  • Both were directly concerned with issue of Civil Rights.
  • Both were slain on Friday and in the presence of their Wives.
  • Lincoln was elected in 1860, Kennedy was elected in 1960.
  • Their successors were named Johnson, and were Southern Democrats who previously served in the U.S. Senate.
  • Andrew Johnson born 1808.
  • Lyndon Johnson born 1908.
  • Booth and Oswald were murdered before trial could be arranged.
  • Booth and Oswald were Southerners favoring unpopular ideas.
  • Lincoln’s secretary, named Kennedy, advised him not to go to the theater.
  • Kennedy’s secretary , named Lincoln, advised him not to go to Dallas.
  • Johns Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald each contain thirteen letters.
  • Lincoln and Kennedy were carried on the same caisson.
